Project ProcessThe purpose of this project was to learn about different kinds of earthquakes, the plate tectonics and how to build a seismograph. First, we researched information on our assigned earthquake to write an investigative newspaper article. Next, the seismologists and contractors recreated the seismograms of each earthquake. Then we constructed seismographs and skewer structures. After that, we drew drawings of legos, dominos, and blueprints of our structures. Finally, we had our wobbly world exhibition.

What I learned |
The difference between a seismogram and a seismograph is a seismogram is the drawing of the ground motion, and a seismograph is the object that records the quakes' motion. We built our structure by doing woodwork because we thought it would be the best material to use. Longitude is the horizontal length of the world. Latitude is the vertical length of the world. Seismographs are used to measure the seismic waves of each earthquake. Orthographic views are the views of each side of the object. For example, front, back, left, right, top, and bottom. Full scale means the life size of an object. Down scale means smaller than the life size object. Up scale means bigger than the life size object. These are used in constructing a blueprint by making things smaller because if you drew it life size, it would be too big to fit on the paper. In order to be prepared for an earthquake, you need to have food that doesn't need refrigeration, water, a blanket, a book, some games, a stuffed animal in case you get stuck with a child and they are scared, and a pair of shoes in case of glass shards.

Reflection |
After completing this project, I feel really good about my work and that the stress is gone. The biggest challenge during this project was the editing job I received because there was four people in the group, and one of them said, "I hate this job and I am not doing it." Then he walked to another table and kept talking. Another member was lost and did not understand anything. There was one other girl, but the problem was we did not have a grading sheet on how to grade, so we kept editing each other. For example, I would make the title size 36, and she would make it size 48. Not that that was the problem, but you get the idea. The most fun part of this project was coloring the plate puzzle of the world. The worst part if this project was getting burned by the hot glue gun while making our skewer structure. I think I did well on this project because I herd a lot of comments about how great our exhibition was. A part of this project I wish was different is being the editor of newspaper articles. If I could do this project again, I would pick a different job instead of the editing job.
