What Math Looks Like As A SophomoreThis page is for me to reflect on this years work and how I have grown as a student. This year we have worked on many concepts like quadratics, probability and similarity. Some of the concepts we learned connected to real world events like probability and casino games.

Math Portfolios |
Quadratics Portfolio: In this worksheet, we learned how to factor and graph points to make a parabola.
Probability Portfolio: In this worksheet, we learned how to calculate the probability of specific events using casino games. Similarity Portfolio: In this worksheet, we learned how to find missing sides of objects and compared shapes and proved their similarity or differences. |
Reflection |
This year, I struggled to collaborate with my peers. In particular, I wanted to work on my patience during group work. In order to measure success, I kept track of my interactions during group work. I caught myself a few times getting impatient, but I then took a deep breath and was okay. I feel that this has become one of my strengths this year because I overcame this challenge.
I realized that becoming better at maintaining patience results in better explanations. I’ve gotten better at delivery, but sometimes when I try to explain my thinking to my peers, it usually gets shot down. It’s easier to explain my work and theories to peers when I take my time describing my steps slowly and thoroughly. |
